Ash Wednesday, a day of fasting, is the first day of Lent in Western Christianity. It occurs 46 days before Easter and can fall as early as 4 February or as late as 10 March. Ash Wednesday is observed by many Western Christian denominations.
According to the canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus Christ spent 40 days fasting in the desert, where he endured temptation by Satan. Lent originated as a mirroring of this, fasting 40 days as preparation for Easter. Every Sunday was seen as a commemoration of the Sunday of Christ's resurrection and so as a feast day on which fasting was inappropriate. Accordingly, Christians fasted from Monday to Saturday (6 days) during 6 weeks and from Wednesday to Saturday (4 days) in the preceding week, thus making up the number of 40 days.
Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of blessing ashes made from palm branches blessed on the previous year Palm Sunday, and placing them on the heads of participants to the accompaniment of the words "Repent, and believe in the Gospel" or "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return".
Set you Clocks Forward One Hour.
Daylight saving time (DST) or summer time is the practice of advancing clocks during summer months (that feature more daylight) so that people get up earlier in the morning and experience more daylight in the evening. Typically, users of DST adjust clocks forward one hour near the start of spring and adjust them backward in the autumn.
Starting in 2007, most of the United States and Canada observe DST from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, almost two-thirds of the year. The 2007 US change was part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
The Vernal Equinox
The word equinox is derived from the Latin words meaning “equal night.”
Days and nights are approximately equal everywhere on earth and the Sun rises and sets due east and west.
At the equinoxes, the tilt of Earth relative to the Sun is zero, which means that Earth’s axis neither points toward nor away from the Sun.
According to folklore, you can stand a raw egg on its end on the day of the Vernal Equinox.
Saint Patrick's Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick (Irish: Lá Fhéile Pádraig, "the Day of the Festival of Patrick"), is a cultural and religious celebration occurring annually on 17 March, the death date of the most commonly-recognized patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick (c. AD 385–461).
On St Patrick's Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and/or green clothing or accessories (the "wearing of the green"). St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.

Join GA-8 for our 11th Annual Charter Party on 16 Mar 2019. Because we will be featuring live music all day and night, this year's annual will NOT be held at our clubhouse in Brooklet. Use caution - there is about one mile of dirt road leading to the party site.
Party on Saturday March 16, 2019 from 1300 until Last Man Standing.
This year, we are putting on an Annual like we have never done before. We have live music all day and all night, starting with Coty James and (Prospect) Rob Ware, followed by Amy Taylor (yeah...you're gonna want to see this girl!) and then coming down from North Georgia just for us, Joe Chastain & Stone Cold will play through the night.
Of course, there will be food and drinks and door prize raffles.
Because we plan to be loud, we are doing this one off-site from our clubhouse in town. This one will be in "The Hangar", a private 2-plane hangar on a grass strip in a small fly-in community. The landing strip will be closed the entire time we are there.
Plan on having a good time! And if you plan to have too much fun to ride, just plan on camping on-site. No tent? We gotcha covered - we have tents/cots/sleeping bags/couches to bed down up to 100 people (first come, first served) on-site.

We have a new host hotel this year, and it's a pretty nice place. We'll be boiling crawfish on the hotel property, and hope to have a great crowd. In case of rain there is plenty of room in the lobby/bar area to eat and party.
Hope to see everyone able to make the trip this year.
UPDATE: Louisiana State Chapter crawfish boil. The
party starts with our meet and greet Friday
evening 7:00 pm at the host hotel Wingate by Wyndham, Slidell, LA. There
will be plenty of crawfish and sides on Saturday afternoon starting at

plenty of adult beverages for the Brothers. Also an indoor pool next to
the bar- Brothers will please keep their clothes on, don’t won’t to
see that...
It’s my understanding that the host hotel is booked up, but the Red

Mardi Gras, also Fat Tuesday in English, refers to events of the Carnival celebrations, beginning on or after the Epiphany or King's Day and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday", reflecting the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season.
