Independence Day, also commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States of America commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from Great Britain (now part of the United Kingdom). Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the National Day of the United States.
The Roar on the Shore® bike rally was created in 2007 for a greater purpose — to serve as a major fundraising event in the Erie, Pennsylvania region. Now, entering its 10th year in 2016, Roar on the Shore® has quickly become one of the fastest-growing FREE bike rallies in the United States.
Each July, more than 100,000 bikers and bike enthusiasts descend on this city located along the shores of Lake Erie, to enjoy three days of rides, bands, bike contests, custom motorcycles, bike accessories and more. In fact, our Bringin’ in the Roar Bike Parade is an annual tradition, with more than 5,000 bikers, led by a celebrity grand marshal, rolling into town to take part in one of the largest escorted rides in history — the official kickoff of ROAR®!
At ROAR®, bikers are able to experience the best of the Great Lakes region. From Erie’s spectacular bayfront and Presque Isle State Park, on to North East’s wine country and Chautauqua Lake, New York, riders will see some of the most beautiful scenery this part of the country has to offer.

Brother Tankgun's Internment will be at
Arlington National Cemetery on 01 July 2016 at 0900hrs.
The procession will leave the administration building of the cemetery at
0900 on 01 July 2016. Anyone planning to ride from the administration building
to the columbarium will need to be at the admin building by 0830.
Additionally, the gates to Arlington open at 0800 daily.
For those attending Brother Tankgun's inturnment at
Arlington National Cemetery (ANC), the following information is provided:
- You need to be at the Administration Building no later then 0830 hrs
on the morning of 1 July. The procession starts promptly at 9AM.
- As you approach the traffic guards on Memorial Avenue outside ANC, do
not turn into the cemetery, but instead inform the guards that you are
there for the funeral of DAVID L GREENHALGH, 1LT, US ARMY and are to
report to the Admin Building.
- The guard will direct you to follow Memorial Avenue until it comes to
a "T". At the intersection take a left and roll thru the gates, past the
crosswalk and tour bus entryway and take the next left onto King Drive.
This leads directly to the Admin Building and the parking/staging area for
the procession.
- You are not permitted to carry a weapon on this federal property. Leave
the hardware at home.
- While your scoot or cage may have a great sound system, you are not
permitted to play music, etc while on the grounds.
- You are not permitted to roll onto the grounds displaying any banners
or flags. This includes large American Flags flown on vehicles
- Vehicles are not to exceed 25mph
After the ceremony on ANC, there will be a Celebration of Life for Tankgun
at Moe's Peyton Place, at 6516 Backlick Rd, in Springfield, VA 22150.
This is approximately 12 miles south of ANC and its location allows for
those attendees to easily access I-95 and I-495 and depart in any direction
once a glass is raised to our Brother.
Please note for those not familiar with the DC Metro rush hour, you can
take the Virginia HOV and EZ-PASS Express Lanes WITHOUT an EZ-Pass as long
as you are on your motorcycle. In addition, with it being a holiday
weekend, traffic is going to be heavy. If you would like an escort by one
of our local Brothers, by all means ask. Its a hell of allot easier and
safer following than trying to find your way in this heavy congestion.
Lastly, Chapters in the area are opening up their homes for those who wish
to arrive Thursday night. Please give us a call or email and we will ensure
we make room and "leave the light on for you".
