MS State has changed it's annual date to coincide with Mardi Gras season. Our next annual date will be Feb 4th, 2023. The location is the same, the famous Juke Joint, owned by Brothers Guido and Trench. The Mardi Gras parade starts at 1 pm, with viewing in the Juke Joint parking lot, followed by the usual shenanigans after the parade in the bar. One note: the city closes of the parade route at noon, so be in the parking lot before noon. Any questions, contact a MS State Brother.
National Freedom Day is a United States observance on February 1 honoring the signing by President Abraham Lincoln of a joint House and Senate resolution that later was ratified as the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. President Lincoln signed the Amendment abolishing slavery on February 1, 1865, although it was not ratified by the states until later.
Later this date was celebrated as Black History Day
