Bob Banfield was a firefighter that I worked with here at Parris Island Fire Rescue. He was a firefighter for 20+ years and a avid runner and triathalete. A little over a year ago Bob was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine cancer. Bob fought the good fight for a year but lost the battle this April 25th. Just before Bob passed away a group of firefighters here got together and wanted to do something in Bob's honor. Bob challenged us to raise awareness of this horrible and little known cancer and to raise money to further cancer research.
So, here we are. I was asked to get "The Boro" chapter involved and put together an event. I have attached a generic flyer for the "Ride for Bob"on October 20th, 2012. We are co-ordinating 4 registration points Charleston, SC , Savannah, Ga, Walterboro, SC and Beaufort,SC.
I know everyone in the Eagle Nation will not be able to make this ride, but I am challenging every Brother and Sister in every chapter to send us the registration, $10 per bike. SC 4 will collect the moneys and make one combined contribution to the Keyserling Cancer Center in the Clubs name. To make it a little easier on book keeping I am requesting that each chapter send 1 check to USMV MC SC4 to our address.

Brothers Oct 20th is quickly approaching and I am sending this reminder for those who wish to get their hotel rooms to do so ASAP!! The rooms must be called in by Sept 19th in order to get the USMV discount.
Also we are planning a ride on Sat prior to start of the party by going to one of the nearby battlefields in the area. What I need is for anyone who wishes to take part in this ride to send me an email in order for us to get a head count. I need to have this done by the end of the month to get logistics in place for it.
We are also planning a meet a greet at a local establishment here in the frederick area known as Cactus Flats on Friday Oct 19th for those Brothers/Sisters who come into town.
There is also going to be another raffle for a Oak barrel that would look great in your club houses or your bartop at home. Info to be put out by the treasurer of the chapter, tickets will be 5 bucks a piece and this goes only to members in good standing with the USMV/MC. If you wish to pre order let me know so that I can get Dozer on the job with sending you tickets.
Chapter P's please ensure that your folks are aware of the party and oak barrel, even if you or chapter cant make the party at least someone can win a nice oak barrel in order to age liquor inside of it.
